Reykjavik smells like sulfur and fresh sea air, often within the same block. Four days here splits neatly between a small capital of corrugated-iron houses and the volcanic country that starts twenty minutes past the city limits.
Junto AI builds your full itinerary around your dates, your group and the way you like to travel.

Reykjavik is the world's northernmost capital and it feels like a fishing town that grew a music scene. The center is small enough to cross on foot in twenty minutes, all painted tin roofs and murals, with the Hallgrímskirkja steeple as your compass. Four days is the right amount of time: two for the city and its harbor, two for the volcanic country that begins almost immediately past the ring road.
Day one belongs to walking. Start at the Sun Voyager sculpture along the waterfront, cut up to Hallgrímskirkja for the elevator view, then work down Laugavegur and Skólavörðustígur stopping at Brauð & Co for cardamom buns and Reykjavik Roasters for coffee. Dinner at Matur og Drykkur or a langoustine soup at Sægreifinn covers the food brief. The next day, rent a car for the Golden Circle loop: Thingvellir National Park where the North American and Eurasian plates pull apart, the geyser at Strokkur that erupts every few minutes, and Gullfoss thundering into its canyon.
Day three goes south. Seljalandsfoss lets you walk behind the curtain of water, Skógafoss is loud and full of rainbows, and Reynisfjara's black sand and basalt sea stacks finish the run. Save day four for the Reykjanes peninsula, the recent eruption sites near Fagradalsfjall, and a long evening soak at Sky Lagoon watching the Atlantic.
Stay in 101 Reykjavik for walkability; Kex Hostel and Sand Hotel are reliable mid-range picks. Book the Blue Lagoon or Sky Lagoon in advance. May through September gives you long daylight and puffins; February brings aurora and ice caves but shorter, weather-dependent days.
